Since February of 2007, I have been employed as a landscape designer at Keith and Schnars, PA in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The firm does a lot of municipal and transportation work. Our Landscape Architecture Division of 11 works with engineers and planners, designing streetscapes and large right of way projects for the Florida Department of Transportation. I've worked for a year on a special landscape assessment of the northern portion of I-75 for the FDOT with Bruce Reed, Director of our division, and Chris Miller, an accomplished artist, photographer, and landscape architect. This picture was taken at the south-bound Payne's Prairie rest area on I-75 near Gainesville. We are standing on a sinuous wall designed to resemble a rattle snake overlooking the Prairie vista.
Angelo Simeone, RLA and professor of Landscape
Architecture at the University of Rhode Island. Angelo taught and demonstrated
the basics of the profession to me. As it turned out, that was all I really
needed to know. A full year of plant identification under his tuteledge led
to a tuition-assisted teaching assistanceship for me in the Master's LA program
at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and I
graduated in June, 2005.
